Hello Kids Way Families! We are off to a great start! I hope that your child is coming home with smiles and stories about their day. Just a few reminders for returning families and commonly asked questions for our new families.
Curriculum Night
is Wednesday, 10-29-25, from 6:00-6:20 for the upper PreK Class, and 6:30-6:50 for the lower Preschool/PreK Class in your child’s classroom.  
Harvest Party Planning!
Our teachers are busy planning for our Annual Harvest Party! This year our Harvest party will be on
Thursday, Oct 30th 2025, please see your child’s teacher for more information.
PreK Harvest Field Trip!
This is a PreK only field trip, October 28th and 29th. More info to follow …
Daily Recess
Kids Way goes outside rain or shine; recess is only canceled if it is pouring rain or otherwise unsafe.
We DO NOT change into different shoes prior to going outside; please have your child wear weather appropriate footwear. Please provide winter weather coats with a hood or place a hat in your child’s backpack. Gloves/Mittens are allowed; however, we are not responsible if they get lost. The kids tend to take them off when at recess … and like socks, one seems to disappear. 😊 No umbrellas are allowed on the playground.
New this year, we were gifted a table w/stools to add to our playground. The teachers are researching interesting and engaging activities to bring learning from inside the classroom, to outside.
Star of the Day Calendar
The calendar is posted in class as well as on Lillio. Please check the calendar for your child's day. Please bring a special item (toy ) and a  book that fits in their backpack to share with the class.
If your child is not a Star of the Day, please do not bring toys to school. If you have any questions, please see your child’s teacher.
Cheese Pizza Lunch
Pizza Day has continued to be a popular lunch option and will continue throughout the school year. Pizza Day includes; Cheese Pizza, Fruit, Cookie and Milk. The cost of lunch is $5 and it is optional. Signup sheets are posted weekly. Pizza day is Wednesday the first 2 weeks of the month, and Thursday the last 2 weeks of the month; this makes pizza day available to both our full time and part time kids. The cost will be added to your statement; we do not accept payments at the preschool. Pizza Day is voluntary; you may also pack your child's lunch on Pizza Day. You can also opt for pizza every week vs. signing up each week.
Fall Developmental Milestones 
Kids Way is required via DCYF/WAC to complete a brief child assessment on each child approximately a month into the school year. We use the CDC’s Act Early Developmental Milestones. You can view this program at: https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/actearly/milestones/index.html Once complete, we will send a copy home for you to compare what we are seeing at school, to what your child is doing at home. It is common for there to be a difference. We will have full Preschool Progress Reports and PreK Progress Reports and Conferences in November.
